Just when we thought the internet’s fascination with the post White Lotus Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood romance/feud headlines had cooled, the actor’s wife, director Nadia Conners, has thrown her hat in the rumour ring with her comments on the co-stars (alleged) post-finale fallout.

The Walton Goggins Aimee Lou Wood rumours first kicked off after a Reddit thread claimed that the co-stars had unfollowed each other on Instagram. “Walton posts White Lotus stuff and tags everyone in the photos except Aimee Lou Wood, posts a whole tribute to White Lotus and still doesn’t tag her, posts tons of pictures of her on his story in a commemorative tribute to the show. What happened?” the Redditor wrote.

What followed was a slew of rather innocuous (yet intriguing) updates that ranged from cast members commenting on filming dynamics, to a misguided SNL skit that added fuel to the feuding actors’ fire. But throughout it all, Walton Goggins’ wife had remained silent on the Aimee Lou Woods rhetoric, choosing not to dignify the internet’s relentless questions with an answer. That was, until now.

Addressing the headlines about her husband’s relationship with actress Aimee Lou Wood, who played the actor’s on-screen love Chelsea in season three of The White Lotus, Conners told Hello! that she was perplexed by the internet’s position on their partnership.

“It’s odd to see it, but it’s an indication of how much people were invested in the fictional characters,” said Conners of the fandom’s fascination with the apparent feud. Adding: “I take it as a sign that he’s become quite popular.”

Conners, who was chatting to the publication about her 2024 film, The Uninvited, which stars her husband Goggins, explained that his on-screen character gave her a new perspective on how fans can project, admitting that Goggins himself was hesitant to take on the role for this exact reason.

Despite what fans might read into the film’s themes, it’s far from an autobiographical tale. “Walton was reading through the script with me at home and I was like: ‘Oh my God.’ What he brings to the character, it was sharp, almost killer energy,” she said of her decision to cast Goggins as the lead.

“I wrote it about a marriage, but not my marriage, which concerned him – he was like: ‘But I’m not this guy.’ It was really important for him to say that he was not this guy. I said: ‘I know, but you’re a great actor, so you can pretend.'”

As for Aimee Lou Wood, the actress used the recent Met Gala red carpet to put any lingering whispers to bed, telling interviewers: “I learnt people are quite bored and analyse social media way too much.”

“You just really can’t engage too much. It’s very good to learn boundaries.”
